Diana has experience in janitorial/housekeeping and nutritional services but was out of work for several years after losing the only client she had while employed with IHSS. Diana felt that her age and health issues hindered her from gaining employment, in addition to raising her grandchildren, which made it difficult to have an open work schedule.

Once her grandchildren went to school and her health improved, Diana was excited to reenter the workforce. Feeling uncertain about how, she went to an America’s Job Center of California (AJCC). The AJCC staff helped Diana with creating a resume and searching for jobs. They also offered her career counseling, help with filling out job applications, and gas cards to help with her commute.

Diana currently has two employers, IHSS and Home Instead Senior Care, and is enjoying her role as a caregiver to the elderly and disabled. “I am thankful for all the assistance I was given and would refer others to the program,” Diana said.
