After his tour of duty was complete, Jesse McIntire returned home to transition into the private sector. Despite his military expertise, Jesse struggled with translating his skills to the civilian workforce in order to become employable.

His future prospects took an upward turn when the Workforce Development Board provided funding for Jesse to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, as well as tuition and travel assistance.

This funding enabled Jesse to obtain a Class B Driver’s License and secure full-time employment. Today he is a truck driver for Expeditor’s Fire Support, and works on fire lines throughout California extinguishing brush fires. “The Workforce Development Board services were so helpful,” Jesse said. “Having a Class B Commercial License has opened up many opportunities. Since I started working, I’ve already received three other job offers that I had to turn down.”
