SAN BERNARDINO WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD MEMBER TO PRESENT AT 3RD ANNUAL I-10 CORRIDOR ECONOMICS AND TRANSPORTATION SUMMIT

Panel will focus on growth industries that will need qualified and trained employees

WHAT: Mike Gallo, CEO of Kelly Space and Technology and member of the San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board will participate on a panel entitled, “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: When and Where?” He will share how the Workforce Investment Board has supported local enterprise, resources available to large and small businesses and success stories from companies who have utilized these programs. Mary Jane Olhasso, administrator for the County of San Bernardino Economic Development Agency will moderate the session at the 3rd Annual I-10 Corridor Economic and Transportation Summit, sponsored by the County of San Bernardino Economic Development Agency.

“The San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board is unique among the approximate 2,300 across the nation in that we provide support and resources to businesses,” said Sandy Harmsen, Executive Director of the Workforce Investment Board and Director of the Workforce Development Department in San Bernardino County. “Not only do we actively support job seekers, but we also assist business with lay-off aversion programs, on-the-job training wage reimbursement incentives and business productivity consulting programs.”

The summit will examine opportunities to combine the economic power of the bustling trade corridor along Interstate 10 and San Bernardino County’s two largest airports as well as examine ongoing efforts to develop a local workforce that can help the Inland Empire’s economy grow. The event will also look at possible impacts of the November 2nd election on growth and the economy.

(CSI), Michelle Davis, Human Resources Manager at the Home Depot Rapid Deployment Center in Redlands and Dr. John Husing, Principal of Economics & Politics, Inc.
