Parris Preston was facing impending termination when the company he worked for decided to move its production to Mexico.  Faced with an uncertain future, Parris was anxious about finding employment in a competitive market.

Fortunately, a representative from the Workforce Investment Board paid a visit to the company to explain to Parris and his coworkers about the myriad of services and programs available to them through the WIB.  Parris took advantage of the services and received truck driving training, resume assistance and polished his interview skills.  He also learned how to dress for interviews, present himself confidently and polished his interpersonal skills.

Parris completed his truck driver training on July 17, 2015 and secured employment with Werner Enterprises as a full-time truck driver three days later.  “This program gave me a new beginning,” Parris said about his gratitude to the WIB and the opportunity they made possible.  “It’s going to change my life in a positive way so I can support and feed my family.
