Building things….

It was a key part of the old economy. It’s a vital part of the present, and the future in the Inland Empire.

So, the annual Inland Empire Manufacturer’s Summit is news.

It’s coming up on Thursday, co-sponsored by the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board.

“Manufacturing is one of the important industries in our region and we are proud to be supporting this important summit to ensure on-going job creation in this field,” said Sandy Harmsen, Executive Director of the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board, in a news release.

The annual summit is organized by the Manufacturers’ Council of the Inland Empire (MCIE). The council helps local manufacturers find solutions to problems such as employment training, research and how to comply with regulations.

There’s been recent good news about the Inland Empire’s manufacturing sector. It’s expanding.

But even as it expands, so is a skills gap.

So, workforce development will be among the key issues under discussion.

The summit will be at at the Riverside Convention Center, and is expected to attract more than 500 participants.
